* * * * * * * All of insignias listed with the "BEIERSMANN" factory graphic in the thumbnail were purchased directly from an Ewald Beiersmann family member who inherited a large collection of mint and unissued cloth insignia that came directly from the factory...which I'm told is still located and operating as a doll factory in Wuppertal-Langerfeld, Germany. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a selection of insignia from this collection and am proud to be able to offer it to you here at the TR Depot. Click on the thumbnail to see the Ewald Beiersmann & Sohn card the descendent was kind enough to share with me. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I580 HOLD
E+ Polizei Officer's Visor Cap Eagle, 2nd Pattern.

Die struck from a zinc alloy with a protective clear coat on the reverse, most of which is still intact with some very subtle corrosion on the wreath near the swastika. The obverse was finished with a thin silver wash, 75% of which is still intact with minor wear to the swastika and other high points on the wreath and eagle's feathers. The reverse is fitted with 2 brass wire prongs that rotate inside the attachment nubs. Each is bent from use, but still strong enough to be used again for that cap in need.
I532 HOLD
E- Wehrmacht Visor Cap Eagle, no maker

Struck from a zinc alloy and finished with a silver wash. Both prongs are missing.
I583 HOLD
E+ Mountain Trooper Cap Badge (Jäger Mützen Abzeichen).

This rarely seen cap device was die struck from a dark gray metal with a mirror image on the reverse. The design features 3 oak leaves and a single acorn with incredibly crisp detail. Unfortunately, only one of the three integral prongs remains intact, but the device it's self is still in near mint condition with no significant damage.
I436 HOLD
E Wehrmacht Officer's Visor Cap Wreath and Cockade.

The wreath was stamped from a zinc/aluminum alloy with 4 brass flat wire prongs soldered to the reverse, one on either side with split prongs at the bottom center. The 3 piece cockade was constructed with an aluminum(?) shroud painted with a black enamel. The dual roped wreath appears to be a silver washed composite, possibly black bakelite. It's mounted to the shroud with 4, 2 long and 2 short, brass prongs. The red wool "Bull's Eye" is sandwiched between the wreath and the shroud.

NM DAF-Deutsche ArbeitsFront (German Labor Front) "Werkschar" (Labor Troops) Officer's Cap Eagle.

Constructed with a machine embroidered aluminum flat wire and a black bevo background on a satin rayon backing. This Trapezoid has been sewn on but nicely removed. It shows some minor wear, but it's still near mint.
I304 HOLD
E Wehrmacht/Heer Cloth Cockade.

Machine embroidered National colored cockade in rayon on a field gray/green rayon backing. It appears as though this may have been cut from a "T" eagle, but it will work perfectly for that cap in need or for your display.

TABS BOARDS UNIFORM INSIGNIA: EAGLES, TABS, SHOULDER BOARDS, PATCHES, BUTTONS EAGLES SHIELDS
E- Luftwaffe Officer's Breast Eagle.

Constructed with 3 types of bullion thread hand embroidered on Luft gray wool with a black cotton thread used for his eye. The reverse is covered with a blue/black paper backing with a white cotton backing underneath. There are little holes around the perimeter indicating that it was sewn on a tunic. Both sides show equal wear, but not enough to detract from it's beauty.
I338 HOLD
NM- Luftwaffe EM/NCO Breast Eagle.

Machine embroidered light gray cotton thread on Luftwaffe blue/gray wool with a black linen backing. Mint and unissued except for a couple small spots of glue on the reverse from being mounted in a display.
I432 HOLD
NM- Panzer General's Breast Eagle

Exquisitely hand embroidered on black wool with 4 types of heavily tarnished gold bullion thread with off white (soiled) cotton thread accents. The reverse is reinforced with a black linen that shows no signs of stitching.
I548 HOLD
E+ Panzer Officer's Breast Eagle.

I originally thought this was a Wehrmacht eagle on a dark green wool like I496, but further inspection shows no green fibers what so ever...the wool backing is indeed black for Panzer troops. The eagle, wreath, and swastika were hand embroidered with 4 different types of silver (aluminum) bullion thread with black cotton threads used to define the eagle's feathers and eye. The reverse is reinforced with a very dark purple, almost black cotton fabric with no evidence of a paper backing, which is not unusual considering it shows plenty of wear and was obviously removed from a tunic.
I493 HOLD
M- Panzer EM/NCO Breast Eagle

Early (circa 1936) pattern with a BeVo like National eagle in black and white cotton threads on a black cotton backing.
I557 HOLD
NM+ Wehrmacht NCO/Officer's Breast Eagle

BeVo like machine embroidery with a bright aluminum flat wire and a dark green rayon base. This insignia has been neatly folded and heavily zig-zag sewn to a dark green doe skin wool backing. There are 2 small moth nips to the edge on one wing, but other wise this beauty remains in mint condition.
I572 HOLD
M Wehrmacht EM/NCO Breast Eagle by Ewald Beiersmann & Sohn of Wuppertal-Langerfeld.

Bevo like construction, machine embroidered with light gray and field gray (khaki green) rayon thread on a field gray rayon fabric which was zig-zag sewn to a darker green wool backing. I have 4 of these beauties in stock, all of which are absolutely perfect with no damage.
I494 HOLD
NM Early Wehrmacht EM/NCO Breast Eagle.

NM Italian Officer's Shoulder Board Set.

Extremely rare, these Fascist boards are completely hand made with gold/aluminum borders hand embroidered on mouse gray polished cotton tops with silver (aluminum) Fasces reed bundles hand embroidered in the centers. The backs are covered with a light gray doe skin wool, hand sewn with gray cotton thread. These are uniquely designed with slip on steel tongues in the center and 2 small spring clip devices hand sewn in each corner with "DEPOSE" stamped on the clips.
I263 HOLD
E Luftwaffe Medical Unterfeldwebel's
Shoulder Strap Set.

This perfectly matched sew-in set shows no signs of use, but both suffer from minor moth damage to the reverse. They were constructed from a Luftwaffe blue/gray wool and trimmed with dark blue wool waffenfarbe piping for medical units. The checker board pattern silver (bright aluminum) tress is in near mint condition with minor wear from being handled and some very subtle corrosion form exposure to humidity.
I528 HOLD
E- Luftwaffe Medical Unterfeldwebel's
Shoulder Strap.

This single strap shows no signs of use, but it suffers from moth damage to both sides. It was constructed from a Luftwaffe blue/gray wool and trimmed with dark blue wool waffenfarbe piping for medical units. The checker board pattern silver (bright aluminum) tress is in near mint condition with minor wear from being handled but shows no significant damage worth mentioning.
I527 HOLD
E++ Wehrmacht Infantry Regiment 6 Oberleutnant's Shoulder Boards.

This is a beautiful set of sew-in shoulder boards constructed with a white wool Nebenfarbe (secondary branch of service color) base for Infantry troops with a silver (aluminum) Russia braid top. The gilt regiment numbers and 25mm rank pips are tightly set and slightly imbedded into the tops, evidence that they've been mounted on the boards since the war. The ends show evidence of stitching so they were definitely issued, but they're still in excellent condition with minimal wear and minor soil to the wool.
IC440 HOLD
E+ Army District Administrative Official's Shoulder Board Set.

See I093 above for history on Army Official's Insignia.

This sew-in shoulder board set was constructed with a green wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) and a red wool Nebenfarbe (secondary branch of service color) that denotes a District Administration Official. The top is constructed from a silver (aluminum) Russia Braid with indentations and holes from 2 missing rank pips. The backs have a couple glue spots from being mounted on a display board.
I296 HOLD
E+ Army Administrative Official(?) Shoulder Board Set.

I'm not certain if I've identified this set correctly so if any one knows more I'd appreciate the input. See I093 above for history on Army Official's Insignia.

Dark green wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with a silver (aluminum) and dark green Russia Braid top. Although these appear to be an unissued sew in set, one of them has 2 holes from missing rank pips, and both have glue on the back from being mounted on a display board.

Dark green wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with a silver (aluminum) Russia Braid top. Although these appear to be an unissued sew in set, I can see what appears to be the remains of the button straps, and one of them has a hole from missing rank pips. Both have glue on the back from being mounted on a display board.
I096 HOLD
M- Army Reserve Infantry Leutnant's Shoulder Board

This sew in type board was constructed with a gray wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base for reserves with a white Nebenfarbe (secondary branch of service color) center for Infantry. The top was made from dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with no evidence of use.

M Early Army Administrative Official(?) Shoulder Board.

I'm not certain if I've identified this one correctly so if any one knows more I'd appreciate the input. See I093 above for history on Army Official's Insignia.

Dark green wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with a silver (aluminum) and dark green Russia Braid top. This is an unusual board in it's construction but I'm fairly certain it's from the Third Reich period simply because of the materials used in it's construction.
I092 HOLD
NM Shoulder strap for an NCO in the Führer Grenadier Battalion #88.

Constructed from green wool with white waffenfarbe piping. The bullion tressing has some minor darkening from age but other than that it's near mint and unissued.
I213 HOLD
E Pioniere (Combat Engineer) Hauptmann's Shoulder Board Set.

Constructed with a black wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) backing with dual silver (aluminum) Russia braid chords for the tops. Each board has two 20mm aluminum rank pips with dual prongs visible on the reverse. 30% of the aluminum coating has worn off the Russia Braid chords, but there's no significant damage other than the unfortunate adhesive on the reverse from being glued to a display board.
I437 HOLD
E Pioniere (Combat Engineer) Leutnant's Shoulder Board.

This sew-in style board was constructed with a black doe skin wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) for the base with two lengths of silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord for the top. There's some minor wear and fraying to the aluminum wire from use, plus there's a little glue residue on the reverse from being glued into a photo album.
I448 HOLD
E Sanitätstruppen(?) (Medical) Officer's Shoulder Board Set.

Both of these boards have a very dark blue, almost black (possibly faded) wool waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with a dark blue rayon and silver (aluminum) Russia Braid for the tops. These boards came to us as a set, but upon further inspection they're not exactly the same. One board has several holes on the back from rank pips and a cypher while the other appears to have fewer holes from pips only. Also, one of the boards is a sew in type while the other has wings at the end for easy removal which usually means it was used on a summer or white tunic. I searched the internet for hours trying to find information on these boards but I came up completely empty. Brant researched them 5-6 years ago and identified them as "RARE Wehrmacht Assistant" boards with the following reference "See Page 186 of Angolia's "Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army, Volume 2." I tried to find this book in our library to confirm his findings but I had no luck...the book is no longer here. If any one out there has a copy of this book or recognizes these boards I would appreciate some help identifying them.
I005 HOLD
NM Schutzpolizei des Gemeinden (Municipal Protection Police) Reservist Shoulder Board Set.

These boards were constructed with a light gray rayon Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) backing with a dark red rayon Nebenfarbe (secondary branch of service color) center. The 15mm wide tongues were made from the same light gray backing material. The tops were constructed with a silver (aluminum) Russia Braid with chocolate brown "V"s around the perimeter with chocolate brown rayon Russia Braid centers. There's some minor damage and several holes in the center of each from rank pips or cyphers. I'm not sure if I've identified these correctly so I'd appreciate some help if you recognize them.
I441 HOLD
M Schutzpolizei des Gemeinden (Municipal Protection Police) Wachmeister's Shoulder Board.

Wine red wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base bordered with dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with chocolate brown V's and 2 more chocolate brown rayon chords that fold around to fill the center. Sew in type, unissued and very rare because the Schutzpolizei des Gemeinden Waffenfarbe was changed to the same green as the Schutzpolizei des Reichs (National Protection Police) early in the war.
I258 HOLD
E++ Schutzpolizei (Protection Police) Wachtmeister's Shoulder Board Set.

These are sew-in style boards constructed with a bright green wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base. Silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with black "V"s make up the borders with black rayon Russia Braid chords in the center. There are two holes in the wool on the reverse of each from rank pips, and evidence of stitching at the ends indicating they were used, but they're still in excellent condition with very minor wear to the tops.
I442 HOLD
F++ Feldgendarmerie (Field Police) Officer's Shoulder Board Set.

These sew-in boards were constructed with a rusty brown wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) and a chocolate brown wool Nebenenfarbe (secondary branch of service color) in the center. The tops are constructed from dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with two 15mm aluminum rank pips. There's a third hole on the reverse of each in the center which may indicate an increase in rank. Both boards show significant wear from use, and one suffers from moth damage at the tip. This is barely visible from the top when on display, plus it gives us a look at how these boards were constructed from the inside out.
I438 HOLD
E+ Gendarmerie Polizei (Rural Police) Meister's (Leutnant) Shoulder Board.

Sew in style with a burnt orange rayon Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base and beautifully braided chocolate brown rayon and silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord with brown "V"s in the center. The same silver (aluminum) chord with brown "V"s makes up the border. This one has been sewn on but it's still in excellent condition with minor wear on the reverse.
I287 HOLD
E++ Gendarmerie Polizei (Rural Police) Wachmeister's Shoulder Board.

Slip on style with a burnt orange rayon Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base and double chocolate brown rayon chord in the center. A dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord with brown "V"s makes up the border. This one appears to have been used but it's still in excellent condition with minor wear on the reverse and a single hole from a missing rank pip.
I289 HOLD
E+ Gendarmerie Polizei (Rural Police) Wachmeister's Shoulder Board.

This use to be a sew on style board with a burnt orange rayon Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base, but it has what appears to be a period applied chocolate brown tongue so it could be used as a slip on instead. It has a double chocolate brown cotton/rayon chord in the center and a dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord with brown "V"s to make up the border. This one was definitely used but it's still in excellent condition with minor wear and 2 holes from missing rank pips.
I288 HOLD
NM- Feuerschutzpolizei (Fire Protection Police) Wachtmeister's Shoulder Board Set.

These are sew-in style boards constructed with a carmine rayon Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base. Silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with black "V"s make up the borders with chocolate brown rayon Russia Braid chords in the center. It doesn't appear these have been used, but there is some glue residue on the reverse of each from being glued into a photo album.
I449 HOLD
E+ Freiwillige Feuerwehr (Volunteer Fire Brigade) Oberbrandmeister's Shoulder Board.

This sew-in style board was constructed with a "Rosa" wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with black "V"s for the top. A single 19mm brass rank pip is mounted near the sew edge with some subtle green corrosion at the edges. The reverse suffers from minor moth damage, but the top remains in near mint condition.
I439 HOLD
E Customs RSV-Reichsfinanzverwaltung (National Finance Administration) Shoulder Board. Rank of Zollbetrieb-Assistant.

This slip-on board was constructed with a dark green Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base with a 15mm wide strip of the same material for the tongue. An alternating silver (aluminum) and green Russia Braid chord makes up the border while a silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord with black "V"s fills the center. The bright brass "RSV" cypher is mounted near the base with dual prongs which are visible on the reverse. This beauty shows very minor wear to the top from use, and there are 2 glue spots on the reverse from being glued into a photo album.
I445 HOLD
M Bahnschutzpolizei (Railway-protection-police) Shoulder Board.

Slip on style board with a black wool Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) base and beautifully braided black rayon and a silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chord with black "V"s in the center. The same silver (aluminum) chord with black "V"s makes up the border. This one is absolutely mint with no signs of wear.
I056 HOLD
F RAD-ReichsArbeitsDienst (National Labor Service) Shoulder Board Set.

These well worn sew-in shoulder boards were constructed with black velvet Waffenfarbe backing which was the general branch of service color for RAD troops. The tops were constructed from dual silver (aluminum) Russia Braid chords with black rayon "V"s. Each board use to have a single pip for the rank of Oberfeldmeister, but they've been removed.

Each was hand embroidered with 2 types of silver (bright aluminum) bullion thread on a fine doe skin wool in red for Flak Artillery units. Despite some minor soil and some corrosion on one of the gulls, this set is in near mint condition. The little sections of loose thread on both sides tells us they were once sewn to a tunic, but they were carefully removed with no damage.

NM Stahlhelm Member's L.V.(LandesVerband) Nordmark (Netherlands) Sleeve Shield.

Der Stahlhelmbund, or "The Steel Helmet League", was comprised of WWI veterans who were alienated from society following the devastating outcome of the First World War. They eventually became the largest veteran's association when they incorporated many of the smaller Freikorps groups. Most of it's members were eventually assimilated by the SA in 1933, but it was disbanded in 1935 following the assassination of Ernst Röhm. The remaining veterans were absorbed by the DRKB which was eventually absorbed by the NS-RKB veteran's organization in 1938.

Very rare and high quality BeVo like embroidered shield featuring 2 blue lions on a yellow field on the left, and a red field with a white burst on the right, trimmed with a thin black border. The black text on the white field above reads "LEWER-DOD-AS-SLOV" over "L.V. NORDMARK". "L.V." is the abbreviation for Landesverband which tells us this shield was probably worn by members of the Stahlhelm in the Administrative District of Nordmark. NOTE: "LEWER-DOD-AS-SLOV" (Defeat of the "Universitas Stedingoram") was the motto of the Stedinger. This was a body of Germanic peasants labeled as heretics by the archbishop of Bremen who secured papal support for a crusade against them from 1229-1234. Search "Stedinger Crusades" for more information.

E- DJ-Deutsches Jungvolk (German Youth) Sleeve Badge.

Bevo like machine embroidery with red and white cotton thread on a "Traditional Brown" rayon backing. This badge was sewn to a sleeve with some tan cotton stitching on the excess material, and some glue and black paper on the reverse from being displayed in a photo album.

NM- Combat Engineer's M35 Dress Tunic Cuff Litzen.

Measuring 57mm x 30mm this cuff litzen is constructed from black wool with a buchram backing. The obverse features a 52mm x 24cm aluminum flatwire "pillar" litzen with 2 double twist silver chords in the center. This was hand and machine sewn to the wool with white cotton thread after the wool was mounted to the buchram...the machine stitches are visible on the reverse as well. There's a little bit of glue and remnants of white paper on either end of the reverse, probably from being mounted in an album.
